Song Structure?
Question
Is there something wrong with me or does almost all the rock music on radio sounds similar ins structure. Do all these bands follow some universal pattern or what. It seem like there mostly playing these the chords over and over and mixing them up a bit. Is the a pattern to that bit?

how to type music
how can I type the notes for my new song I made
Well, Rock is popular music and popular music is the most accepted music, is inevitable for these types of music to be similar because of the its nature, and it is also basic in sing structure and progression, so it is common to write the same way and manner, plus record labels will try not to risk it with weird new stuff unless the artist has a fan base established.
One thing that I usually do is Key modulations. You know changing the harmonic function almost abruptly. This isn't easy to do, but with some practice and some good ear-training, it's not out of reach for almost anyone. This "stunt" comes naturally to me since I have what is called "perfect-pitch." That's the ability to recognize notes by ear, without the aid of an instrument.
12 bar blues is good, but not creative. Pop & rock music uses patterns that sells. There is a lot more than the 12 bar blues or the verse/choruse/verse/bridge/. You should let go you creative juice
Yes, you see it too? It's called the 12 Bar Blues and yes a bunch of musicians are using it. Do they know there using it? Some do, some don't. But the ones that do should do well if they expand on it and push it's limits! The 12 bar blues consists of the I IV & V chords, sometime they do it in minor (vi, ii &iii), but they are usually played in a 12 bar set , like: Ix4, IVx2, I, V, IV, I, V, I. (4+2+1+1+1+1+1+1=12). It's a good way of writing music cause it set up to be naturally flowing and pleasing to the ear and emotions.
