No, it's never too late to learn. The first most important thing you need to learn is how to tune your guitar to standard pitch (also called, A=440) and tuning. Standard pitch is when the "A" note vibrates at 440 vibrations per second. Standard tuning is when each open string is tuned as follows: 1st string (littlest string) = E, 2nd string = B, 3rd string = G, 4th string = D, 5th string = A, 6th string (biggest string) = E. An electronic tuner is the best way to accomplish this. There are a variety of tuners available and some are quite pricey. You don't need to spend a fortune for one, but you do get what you pay for. The next thing to learn is how to make the chords. These are what we use to play the music and this site is full of them. At first making the chords will be difficult to say the least, but with practice you will get the hang of it. I suggest picking a simple song that you want to learn and then you will know what chords you need to learn first. Most songs only have 3 to 5 chords in them. There is another thing that is very important to music you will need to learn also. It is TIMING. This is, in my opinion, the second most important thing about music. Think about the engine of a car. If it's not in time, it won't run correctly, right? Music is the same way. Everything has to happen at the right time for it to flow smoothly and come together as a whole. It must remain steady once it has started also. It can't speed up or slow down. Kind of like a clock, the ticks all have to be precise or the clock will not keep the correct time. Playing guitar is not all that hard once you start to understand what's really going on, but there is a lot to it. I frequent this site daily and will be more than glad to help you, or anyone else, in any way I can. Best of luck to you.
