I am in a hardrock/grunge band, and I was in a ska band, it spending of my postion as of now, but I did play guitar/ backup vocals/ and trumpet. In ska, when playing guitar, the amp and the guitar is all you need to get clean sounds, the most ideal clean setup is fender strat or tele, and soem kind of old tube fender amp. Your amp should be fine though, the les paul to, I have one as well, they are great! Anyway, I have a 35W 10" Peavey, that I use for practice in the grunge band, and a cheap 25W 8" Pyle, I bought for cheap off ebay. It has master, bass, mids, treble, volume, and a bass boost. I usualy put the m & v onn full, bass on 3-5, treble on 8-10, and scoop the mids(0-4). This gives me good ska clean sounds, then I have a DOD Grunge distortion pedal, which I set to give me light distortion/heavey overdrive, and not raise the voluem up to much. That gives me the clean, and heavy sounds i need. Your amp might have a foot switch jack on the back, and it might have a reverb control, if it does, use the reverb, it will make your clean sounds a lot better.
